Key Things From This Episode

Key Quotes:
“What you do is not who you are.”
“I’ve always been more focused on the assist, rather than the goal.”
“Believe in yourself and what you do.”

Why Jeff Started the TrepsUnite Podcast
Jeff has never looked at others as competition, but rather as a potential colleague or partner. He has always asked, “How can we help each other?”

He has always been told he is a connector and the “I know a guy” guy. He has always enjoyed and worked to bring people together to help others grow and succeed.

Jeff’s Failure
Jeff entered the music industry at a tough time and bit off a little more than he should have. He had not assessed his cash needs properly and basically ran out of money. He had to leave the record label he founded and had to tell artists that he could not finish their albums. Jeff fell into a very tough time and dealt with some depression. He started asking himself, “If I’m not JefFTF (a nickname he had earned with local bands), who am I?”

It took a late night break down and long talk with his wife for him to realize that what you do does not define you, but rather why you do the things you do and what you’re trying to do for people.

Jeff’s Successful Moment
While talking with a young entrepreneur who had an idea for a business, Jeff helped her to realize the fear she had and how to work past it. Jeff remembers watching the fear leave her eyes and see a weight lift off her shoulders, as her tone of voice changed from nervous and worried to confident and driven.

Jeff’s Advice to New Entrepreneurs
Believe in yourself and what you do. Everything around you will try to knock you down. The belief in yourself and what you do is what will get you through the hard times.

One Thing You Can Do Today
Get very clear about your vision. Where is it, you want to go? Take some time, sit down, and paint a clear picture. Write it down and keep it somewhere you will see it everyday.
